The short answer

This is a full tour of mydawAI, the WhatsApp medicine reminder app for Indian families: sign up, add medicines from a prescription photo, voice note or typing, connect WhatsApp, add family, track stock and refill from your local chemist. Most people are set up in a few minutes.

What is mydawAI, in one line?

mydawAI reminds you and your family to take medicines on WhatsApp, tracks stock, and refills from your local chemist after you say yes. It runs as a web app at app.mydawai.in plus WhatsApp, with no app-store download, and it is free during beta.

This walkthrough takes you through every part, in the order you will use it. If you want the short version first, read what is mydawAI.

Step 1: How do I sign up for mydawAI?

Go to app.mydawai.in/signup and enter your name, email, WhatsApp number and a password. mydawAI then asks you to confirm the number with one tap on WhatsApp. As soon as you do, your account is ready and you go straight to your dashboard.

Step 2: How do I add my medicines?

Choose a prescription photo or PDF, a voice note, or typing.

  • Prescription: take a photo or upload a PDF. mydawAI reads the medicines and the timings written on it.
  • Voice note: speak your list in English or Hindi.
  • Typing: add each medicine, its times and days.

Whichever you choose, mydawAI shows the list for review and asks follow-up questions for anything missing, like a time or a dose. Nothing is saved until you confirm. Reminders can be daily or on chosen days of the week.

Step 3: How do I connect WhatsApp?

Enter your WhatsApp number on the WhatsApp page and confirm it with a quick tap or message. This proves the number is yours. You can then send yourself a test message to see what a reminder looks like.

Step 4: What does a reminder look like?

A WhatsApp message with the medicine name, the dose and a single Taken button. Tap Taken after you have had the dose. A dose can be marked taken from 30 minutes before its time and only on its own day. In the web app, you can also turn on an optional full-screen reminder with sound.

Step 5: What is on the dashboard?

Today's doses, how the week went, and anything running low. The Schedule view shows a calendar of taken and missed doses, and you can mark a due dose as taken there too.

Step 6: How do I add family members?

Open Settings, then Care Circle, and add each person with their name, relation, language and WhatsApp number. There is no limit. Each person gets a WhatsApp message asking if they want reminders; once they agree, their reminders go to their own phone. Until then, they come to you, labelled with their name.

For each person you can turn on missed-dose escalation: mydawAI retries the reminder, then alerts you if there is still no Taken. See the Care Circle guide.

Step 7: How do I track stock?

Enter how many tablets you have for each medicine and set a low-stock level. Every Taken tap lowers the count, and the medicine shows as running low when it reaches your level.

Step 8: How do refills from my chemist work?

Save your local pharmacy with its WhatsApp number, then turn on auto-refill for a medicine. When it runs low, Chintu asks you on WhatsApp with the full order. Only after you tap Yes is the order sent, with the prescription, to your pharmacy's WhatsApp, between 9 AM and 6 PM. You can also request a refill yourself anytime from the Pharmacies page. Payment and pickup are arranged with the pharmacy directly.

Step 9: How do I talk to Chintu?

Message Chintu on WhatsApp, or tap the koala in the web app to talk by voice. Ask what you take tonight, say you took a dose, or ask to change a reminder time. For changes, Chintu shows a summary and asks you to confirm.

Chintu shares only general, well-established information about medicines on your list, never diagnoses and never changes or approves a dose on its own judgement. For urgent concerns, call your doctor or 112.

Step 10: How do I change language, voice or profile?

Go to Settings. You can set English or Hindi for yourself and for each family member, choose Chintu's voice, and update your name. You can also send feedback to the mydawAI team from there.

Where is my data kept?

Encrypted at rest with AES-256, on AWS in Mumbai. Prescriptions are encrypted before they are stored. Read keep prescriptions organised, private and encrypted.
