WhatsApp Medicine Reminders: How They Work With mydawAI

The short answer

WhatsApp medicine reminders from mydawAI arrive as a message at each dose time with the medicine name and a single Taken button. Tapping Taken records the dose and updates your stock, and if a family member does not tap, mydawAI can remind them again and alert you.

Can I get medicine reminders on WhatsApp?

Yes. mydawAI sends your medicine reminders as WhatsApp messages, at the exact times on your schedule. You do not need to install anything new: if you have WhatsApp, you can get reminders.

WhatsApp is the most used messaging app in India. It is where families share news, where the chemist sends bills and where parents already know how to reply. Putting medicine reminders there means they actually get seen.

What does a mydawAI WhatsApp reminder look like?

It is a short message from mydawAI naming the medicine and dose, with one button: Taken. There is no clutter, no menu and nothing to navigate.

When it is time for a dose, the person gets a message like this: a friendly line from Chintu, the medicine name, the dose and whether to take it before or after food, followed by the Taken button. One tap records that the dose was taken. That is the whole interaction.

We deliberately kept it to one action. A prescribed dose is not something to snooze away or dismiss from a notification, so the only thing the button does is confirm that the medicine has been taken.

How do I set up WhatsApp reminders?

Sign up, confirm your WhatsApp number with a tap, then add your medicines. The reminders start automatically.

  1. Sign up at app.mydawai.in with your name, email and WhatsApp number.
  2. Chintu messages your WhatsApp. Confirm the number with one tap.
  3. Add medicines: photograph your prescription, upload a PDF, send a voice note, or type them in.
  4. Review what mydawAI read. It asks follow-up questions if a time or dose is missing.
  5. Save. Reminders are scheduled straight away, even for a dose later today.

You can also set things up straight from WhatsApp by sending Chintu a photo of your prescription. Read more in our guide on how to never forget your medicine.

When can I tap the Taken button?

You can mark a dose taken from 30 minutes before its time until the end of that day. After that, the dose is locked as missed.

This keeps your record honest. You cannot accidentally tick off tonight's dose in the morning, and yesterday's missed dose cannot be quietly marked taken today. Your history, and any caretaker watching it, sees what really happened. For more on this, see what to do if you missed a dose.

What happens if someone does not tap Taken?

For family members with escalation turned on, mydawAI reminds them again and then alerts the caretaker. You decide how long to wait between retries and how many retries to send.

StepWhat mydawAI does
Dose timeSends the WhatsApp reminder with a Taken button
No reply after your chosen intervalSends the reminder again
Still no reply after the retriesSends the caretaker a WhatsApp alert
Dose tapped at any pointRecords it as taken, stops further reminders

This matters most when something is wrong: a parent who is unwell, a phone that is switched off, a number that has stopped working. The caretaker hears about it instead of finding out days later.

Do my family members get their own reminders?

Yes. Each family member in your Care Circle gets reminders on their own WhatsApp, once they agree to receive them. You can add as many family members as you need.

When you add a parent with their number, mydawAI asks them on WhatsApp first. Until they confirm, their reminders come to you, labelled with their name, so no dose is lost in the meantime. Each person can also have their own language, English or Hindi.

Does tapping Taken do anything else?

Yes, every Taken dose comes off the medicine's stock count. That is how mydawAI knows when you are running low.

When stock drops to your threshold and auto-refill is on, Chintu asks you on WhatsApp whether to order more. Only after you say yes does the order go to your own local pharmacy, on their WhatsApp. Read how auto-refill works.

Can I reply to the reminder with a question?

Yes. You can chat with Chintu in the same WhatsApp conversation. Ask "what do I take tonight?" or "did I take my morning tablet?" and Chintu answers from your own schedule, in English or Hindi.

Chintu can also share general information about the medicines on your list, like whether to take one with food. It never diagnoses and never changes a dose. For anything urgent, call your doctor or 112.

Is it safe to get medicine reminders on WhatsApp?

Yes. mydawAI uses the official WhatsApp Business Platform from Meta, and your medicine data is encrypted at rest. Reminders are sent only to numbers that have been confirmed by their owner.

Your medicine names, doses and prescriptions are stored encrypted with AES-256 on AWS servers in Mumbai. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
