Auto-Refill Medicines: Never Run Out, Never Over-Order

The short answer

mydawAI auto-refill tracks how much of each medicine you have left and, when it runs low, asks you on WhatsApp whether to order more from your local pharmacy. Nothing reaches the pharmacy until you tap "Yes, send it". It is the safest way to never run out without ever being surprised by an order.

What is auto-refill?

Auto-refill is a mydawAI feature that watches your medicine stock and offers to reorder when it runs low. It is switched on per medicine, so you choose exactly which ones it covers.

Most "auto" refill services just place the order. mydawAI does something better: it asks first. You stay in control, and your chemist only ever receives orders you actually approved.

How does mydawAI know my medicine is running low?

Every time you tap Taken on a WhatsApp reminder, mydawAI takes that dose off your stock count. When the count reaches your low-stock mark, the medicine is flagged as running low.

That means the stock number reflects real life, not a guess based on the date you last bought a strip. If you were travelling, if a dose was rescheduled, if you topped up in between, mydawAI keeps up. Read more about tracking medicine stock at home.

What happens when stock runs low?

Chintu, the mydawAI koala, sends the account holder a WhatsApp message with the full order and two buttons: Yes, send it and Not now.

  1. Stock for one or more medicines drops to the low mark.
  2. mydawAI groups everything low for the same person into one order.
  3. You get one WhatsApp message listing the medicines and quantities.
  4. Tap Yes, send it, and the order goes to your saved pharmacy.
  5. Tap Not now, and nothing is sent.

Will it keep nagging me if I say Not now?

No. mydawAI asks once per low-stock stretch. Once you top up your stock above the low mark, the next time it runs low it asks again. You will never get the same question every hour.

This is a deliberate design choice. Constant alerts get ignored. One clear, well-timed question gets answered.

Who gets asked, me or my parent?

The account holder. If you manage your father's medicines through Care Circle, auto-refill asks you, not him. His dose reminders keep going to him as usual, untouched. You decide whether to order, and the order goes to the pharmacy you picked.

Why is "ask first" better than fully automatic?

Because medicines change. Doctors adjust doses, switch brands, or stop a medicine. A fully automatic order can send the wrong thing. A yes-first refill keeps a human in the loop at the one moment it matters.

How do I turn auto-refill on?

Open the Medicines page in mydawAI, make sure the medicine has stock tracking (a quantity on hand), and flip the Auto-refill switch. You also need a saved pharmacy. That is it.

  • Set your current stock when you add the medicine
  • Pick a low-stock mark that gives your chemist enough time
  • Save your local pharmacy's WhatsApp number
  • Turn on Auto-refill for each regular medicine

What does the pharmacy receive?

Once you say yes, the pharmacy gets a grouped "new orders" message during shop hours, 9 AM to 6 PM IST, and can view your list and prescription, then Confirm or mark Can't supply. Payment and pickup stay between you and your chemist, as always. See how to refill from your local pharmacy on WhatsApp for the full flow.
