How to Refill Medicines From Your Local Pharmacy on WhatsApp

The short answer

The easiest way to refill medicines from your local pharmacy on WhatsApp is mydawAI. You pick your chemist and the medicines, mydawAI sends the order to the pharmacy's WhatsApp during shop hours, and the pharmacist confirms with one tap. You keep your own chemist, and nobody has to type out a long list again.

Can I order medicines from my local chemist on WhatsApp?

Yes. Most neighbourhood chemists in India already take orders on WhatsApp, and mydawAI turns that habit into a clean, repeatable refill. Instead of typing a list from memory every month, you send a structured order with the right medicine names, strengths and quantities, plus your prescription if you have one.

The difference is reliability. A forwarded photo or a voice note gets lost in a busy shop's chat. A mydawAI order arrives as a clear list the pharmacist can confirm, or mark as unavailable, in a single tap.

How does a mydawAI refill request work?

You choose a saved pharmacy, tick the medicines you need, and mydawAI sends the order to that pharmacy's WhatsApp. Here is the full flow:

  1. Save your pharmacy once. Add its name and WhatsApp number on the Pharmacies page. Saving a pharmacy sends nothing, so your chemist is never messaged until you actually order.
  2. Request a refill. Pick the medicines and quantities. You can attach a prescription you have already uploaded to mydawAI.
  3. mydawAI sends it during shop hours. Orders go out between 9 AM and 6 PM IST, so nobody's phone buzzes at midnight.
  4. The pharmacist sees a neat notice. Instead of one message per customer, the pharmacy gets a single "N new orders" message, grouped every couple of hours.
  5. They tap View orders. Each order shows your medicine list and prescription with three choices: Confirm, Can't supply, or Block customer.
  6. You arrange payment and pickup directly. mydawAI does not sell medicines or take payment. You pay your chemist the way you always have, and collect or get it delivered as you usually do.

Why use mydawAI instead of messaging the chemist myself?

Because mydawAI already knows your medicines. Your list, doses and stock count live in one place, so the order is complete and correct every time. It also knows when you are running low, because every dose you mark Taken comes off your stock count.

Messaging the chemist yourself works, until you forget a medicine, misspell a brand, or send it at 10 PM and wait until tomorrow. With mydawAI you get:

  • The exact names and strengths from your prescription, not from memory
  • Quantities based on what you actually take
  • The prescription attached, so the pharmacist can check it
  • Delivery and read updates on the order
  • A record of what you ordered and when

What happens if the pharmacy does not respond?

If the pharmacy never opens its first message, mydawAI tells you after 3 days and gives you a Send it yourself option. That opens a ready-made WhatsApp message from your own phone to the chemist, with the full list already written. You never get stuck waiting.

This matters because some shops only check WhatsApp occasionally. mydawAI respects that and does not keep pinging them, but it also makes sure your refill still happens.

Is it free for me and for the pharmacy?

Yes. mydawAI is free while it is in beta, and pharmacies never pay anything or install anything. The chemist just uses the WhatsApp they already have. Read how pharmacies receive mydawAI orders if you want to explain it to your chemist.

Can I refill medicines for my parents too?

Yes. mydawAI's Care Circle lets you manage medicines for your parents, partner or kids from one account. You can order their refills from their usual chemist or yours. Their stock is tracked separately, so you always know whose medicine is running low.

How do I make sure I never run out again?

Turn on auto-refill for each medicine you take regularly. When stock drops to the low mark, Chintu, the mydawAI koala, asks you on WhatsApp whether to send the order. One tap on "Yes, send it" and it goes to your pharmacy. Learn more in our guide to auto-refill that asks you first.
