Turn a Prescription Photo into WhatsApp Medicine Reminders

The short answer
With mydawAI you take a photo of your prescription (JPG, PNG or PDF), it reads the medicines and timings, asks about anything missing, and you confirm. From then on reminders arrive on WhatsApp with one Taken button, for you or any family member.
Typing every medicine into an app is the step where most people give up on reminders. mydawAI removes it. You take a photo of the prescription, and a few taps later your whole schedule is set up and reminding you on WhatsApp.
How do I turn a prescription photo into reminders?
Upload a photo or PDF of the prescription in the mydawAI app, or send it to Chintu on WhatsApp. mydawAI reads the medicines, asks about anything unclear, and you confirm the list. Reminders start on WhatsApp right after.
- Open the Prescriptions page at app.mydawai.in, or send the photo to Chintu on WhatsApp
- mydawAI reads medicine names, strengths, doses and timing patterns
- Anything missing or unclear becomes a short follow-up question
- You review the full list, fix anything, and choose who it is for
- You confirm, and WhatsApp reminders begin from the next due dose
What file types can I upload?
mydawAI reads JPG, PNG and PDF files. A clear, well-lit photo taken straight on gives the best result, but handwritten prescriptions and printed hospital discharge sheets both work.
Tips for a good scan:
- Lay the prescription flat and avoid shadows
- Make sure every line, including the dose pattern, is in the frame
- Take a separate photo for each page
- If it is a PDF from a hospital or lab, upload it as is
What happens when something on the prescription is unclear?
mydawAI asks instead of guessing. Timings are only taken from what is written, such as 1-0-1, OD, BD, TDS, HS or an explicit time. If nothing is written, or the medicine is SOS, you get a question like "When should you take this?".
If the AI is not confident about a medicine name, it asks "did I read Metformin right?" so you can correct it. These follow-ups are answered in one go: on the web you fill a quick card for each medicine, and on WhatsApp you get one numbered list with every gap marked and reply once.
If the shorthand itself is new to you, our guide on how to read a doctor's prescription in India explains it.
Is anything saved before I check it?
No. Nothing becomes a reminder until you review the list and confirm. You can edit a name, change a dose, set a time or remove a medicine entirely. On the web, Save needs a name, a time and a dose for every medicine, so a half-filled entry cannot slip through.
This review step is the difference between a prescription reader you can trust and one you cannot. AI reading is fast; your confirmation is what makes it safe.
Can I set up reminders for my parents from their prescription?
Yes. When you confirm, choose who the medicines are for: yourself or anyone in your Care Circle. Their reminders go to their own WhatsApp once they agree, and you can turn on alerts so you hear if a dose goes untaken.
There is no limit on family members, so one account can handle a parent's blood pressure tablets, a partner's thyroid medicine and a child's antibiotic course at once. Read more in our guide to setting up reminders with a voice note, which works the same way for family.
What do the reminders look like?
Each reminder is a WhatsApp message with the medicine, dose and food instruction, plus one Taken button. Tap it and the dose is logged.
- A dose can be marked taken from 30 minutes before its time, and only on its own day
- Every Taken comes off your stock count
- With auto-refill on, mydawAI asks you on WhatsApp when stock runs low, and only after your yes does the order go to your local pharmacy on their WhatsApp
- Prefer something louder? Turn on the optional full-screen reminder in the web app
Is my prescription photo kept private?
Yes. The file is encrypted by mydawAI before it is stored, on top of storage-level encryption, and it is hosted on AWS in Mumbai. Medicine names and doses are encrypted in the database too. We explain exactly who can see what in keeping your prescriptions organised and private.
Why mydawAI is the easiest way to go from paper to reminders
Most reminder apps start with an empty form. mydawAI starts with the paper your doctor already gave you, asks only what it needs, and keeps reminding you and your family on the chat app you already open fifty times a day. When stock runs low, it can refill from your local pharmacy too. It is free while in beta, with no card needed. Sign up free and photograph your first prescription.
