Insulin and Injection Reminders: Build a Daily Routine

The mydawAI team · · 4 min read

The short answer

Insulin and other regular injections are built around timing, often tied to meals, and a missed or repeated injection matters. mydawAI sends a WhatsApp reminder at each injection time with a one-tap Taken button, supports daily and weekly schedules, and can alert a caretaker if a dose is not marked taken.

Why do insulin users need a reliable reminder?

Because insulin timing is usually planned around meals and routine, and both missing and repeating an injection can matter. Insulin is a long-term medicine for many people with diabetes, and the schedule your doctor sets, such as a long-acting injection once a day and mealtime injections, depends on being followed consistently.

Real life gets in the way: a late lunch, travel, a busy day, or simply not remembering whether the night injection was done. mydawAI keeps one reliable reminder and one honest record. Always follow your doctor's plan for the type, amount and timing of your insulin.

How do I set insulin reminders on WhatsApp?

In mydawAI, add each injection with its time, and a WhatsApp reminder with a Taken button arrives every time.

  1. Sign up free at app.mydawai.in.
  2. Add the insulin or injection by photo of the prescription, voice note in English or Hindi, or typing it.
  3. Add each time your doctor prescribed, for example before breakfast and before dinner, with a before food note if relevant.
  4. Review and save. mydawAI asks a follow-up question for anything missing.
  5. Tap Taken after each injection.

If you take a weekly injection, choose the day of the week. mydawAI supports daily schedules and chosen days of the week. See weekly medicine reminders.

How does the Taken button help with injections?

It answers "Did I already inject?" with a record, which is one of the most common worries with insulin. A dose can only be marked taken on its own day and from 30 minutes before its time, so the record stays accurate.

You can ask Chintu, the mydawAI koala, on WhatsApp: "Did I take my night insulin?" Chintu answers from your record. If you are ever unsure whether you injected, ask your doctor or diabetes educator what to do, rather than guessing.

Can I set insulin reminders for an elderly parent?

Yes. Add them to your mydawAI Care Circle and their reminders go to their own WhatsApp after they agree. Many older people manage their own insulin but find timing hard to keep, especially with memory changes.

Turn on missed-dose escalation and, if they do not tap Taken, mydawAI reminds them again and then alerts you on WhatsApp so you can call. Each person chooses English or Hindi. Read how to remind elderly parents.

What if an injection is missed?

Follow the plan your doctor gave you for missed doses, or call your doctor or pharmacist. Never inject extra to make up unless they tell you to. The right step depends on your insulin type and timing.

Signs of very low or very high sugar can be serious. If someone is confused, drowsy, or unwell, get medical help immediately or call 112. Chintu does not give advice on insulin doses or sugar readings.

How do I avoid running out of insulin pens or cartridges?

Use stock tracking in mydawAI so the count drops with each Taken, and turn on auto-refill if you want. When stock is low, Chintu asks you on WhatsApp first. Only after you tap Yes does the order go to your own local pharmacy on their WhatsApp, with the prescription, between 9 AM and 6 PM. You arrange payment and pickup with the pharmacy.

Can I manage tablets and insulin together?

Yes. mydawAI keeps all your medicines in one list, so diabetes tablets, blood pressure medicines and insulin each get their own reminders. Many people with diabetes take several medicines a day. See reminders for diabetes and blood pressure.

Can Chintu answer questions about insulin?

Chintu can share general, well-established information about a medicine on your list, such as that insulin is commonly prescribed for diabetes. It never interprets sugar readings, never diagnoses and never changes or approves a dose.
